You are summon to the court: your password was not good enough

One of biggest problems with password is the ability to remember a long password and for many different websites. Many people fall in the trap that they use the same password for almost every website they visit. The number of websites collecting statistics about their users is increasing and most websites now will require an account (free or paid) before you can access any major feature on their site.

Some people argue that using password for securing any access is not good enough. Let me put it this way. Password are needed for almost every single security protection out there. Whether you encrypt a text, file, computer or whatever, you need a password for that. My intention is not to go into the argument that password are not very important. I am not going to give a full account of why I think they are very important but believe me password are very very important here.

Some other people argue that they don't have anything to hide hence no need of password. How would someone feel to know that they are in the court because they have help for a crime? Sometimes, we are ready to blame on government their lack of initiative or their inability to find a solution that we actually hold. It is important to know that a computer that is not protected, I would say heavily protected is helpting the criminal, the terrorist achieve their goal.

The big problem is how to make a password secure and being able to remember it. Here is the simple trick. Create a FORMULA some expert will refer to it as ALGORITHM. Here is the trick. you can have one and only one formula that you will make sure you do not share expecially with the helpdesk guys. For instance, let take one of your event: "I had the best holiday in July 2010" You can take every two letters for each work (the first and the last) I.Hd.TeBtHyInJy#10. You will notice that I have added the "#" before the number. You can decide to add any non alphabetical character before number. It could be @,`,¦,¬,
The "IHdTeBtHyInJy#10" will be the base of your formula. Now everytime you visit a new website, let say Yahoo, Hotmail, Google, you personalise your basic formula to something that will mean something to the website you are registering with. you can for example decide that you will use the 3 last letter of each website. Your password then become IHdTeBtHyInJy#10hoo --> for yahoo, IHdTeBtHyInJy#10gle --> for google, IHdTeBtHyInJy#10ail --> hotmail.
Here are some tricks to make your password even more secure. Some people replace the "i" with the "1" but I would recommended choosing something different if you do want to replace the "i".

Malware propagate rapidely and easily when systems do not have an adequate protection. It is time that you actively take part in fighting terrorism, hackers, etc. Protect your system (email, computer, network share, etc.) so that the bad guys will not use you to perform their crime. Without realising it, you are accomplice to crimial and you could be summon to appear in court for your act.

Protect your computer, email, and any other related electronic activities. If you fail to do so, just know you are participating in organised crime.
